27-02-2008 7th place at indoor World Stuntriding Championship
Last weekend I participated in the indoor Stuntriding World Championship in Zurich, Switzerland. From the moment I arrived on Wednesday training was not going well, I have put to much pressure on myself for this competition and you could see that in my riding.
The qualification run on Saturday went really bad and I made a lot of mistakes which resulted in a poor score.
I qualified 11th on Saturday. On Sunday morning things got even worse, I woke up sick with my stomach upside down and I even had to throw up a half hour before my semi-finale run.
In the end this turned out to be not so bad after all, because with my sickness I thought: Well, I cant get a podium place anymore, I’ll just ride for the fans and see what happens.
There was no more pressure for me, and to my own surprise I rode pretty good!
After that, still a bit sick but a lot more confident I rode even better in the final run.
For my Final run I scored 51 points (out of 60), which even made me 4th of the final runs.Still with the bad qualification run from Saturday this wasn’t enough to end higher than a 7th place.
Seeing the circumstances I feel pretty good about the result and I ended up one place higher that last year in the world ranking. The event was very well organized and this is definitely the best Stuntriding championship ever!
Next year they want to expand the event to several rounds world wide and also add a woman’s competition! So next year Stephanie is also going to compete in the world championship!
